Wooden Push-Along Farm Tractor with Rattle Beads

Down on the rug, your toddler grips the cab, pushes the tractor towards the sofa and stops to listen. Push again, harder this time, and the clatter speeds up. Before long the tractor is ferrying a toy sheep from one end of the room to the other, with plenty of engine noises added for good measure.

A tractor toy for 2-year-olds who love the farm

Between 18 months and 3 years, children want to make things move and see what happens. This wooden tractor toy gives them exactly that, with nothing to switch on: the sound depends only on how fast their hand goes. It suits children who are steady on their feet and like to kneel, crawl and push their vehicles along the floor, and it stays a favourite in farm games with animal figures at 3.

What pushing it brings

Pushing the tractor in a straight line, then steering it round a chair leg, works the arm and wrist and teaches a child to follow an object with their eyes. Hearing the beads respond to speed is a first, very concrete lesson in cause and effect. Talk about what the tractor does on a farm, and the game becomes rich in new words: field, hay, trailer, mud.

Just the right size for small hands

At 0.26 kg, this toy tractor in wood has a pleasant weight in the hand without being heavy, and it rolls smoothly on wooden floors as well as low-pile carpet. It is one of our Montessori educational toys built around a single, clear action, which is what keeps toddlers coming back to it.
