This Christmas collection brings together games for Christmas, festive wooden toys and craft kits for children from 1 year, ready to go under the tree, into a stocking or onto the table for the long afternoons of the holidays.
Festive wooden toys for little ones from 1 year
For the youngest, the Christmas play car, the festive animal stacking ring and the Christmas peg puzzles are all suitable from 1 year: chunky pieces to push, stack and slot back into place. For more ideas at this age, our guide to toys for one-year-olds goes beyond the festive season. The festive ink stamper, also from 1, lets a toddler print onto wrapping paper or homemade cards with you.
Christmas crafts for ages 3 and up
From 3, the collection turns creative: six wooden baubles to paint, a clay tree decoration kit, a pack of four snow globes to fill (handy for siblings or cousins) and felt tree kits to hang. The Montessori felt Christmas tree with its 26 detachable ornaments goes up on the wall and can be redecorated again and again. Add the beeswax block crayons or the triangular coloured pencils and the craft table is ready.
Stocking fillers to play together
If you are looking for Christmas toys small enough for a stocking, the wooden spinning tops (3+), the Wakouwa dancing puppet that wobbles and collapses when you press its base (3+) and the mini pinball flipper game (4+) all slip in easily and are quick to play as a family after lunch. The Montessori Advent calendar holds 25 small wooden toys, one to open each day of the countdown.
The doctor bag and the dental care set are here too, for a child who loves to look after everyone else. Most of these presents are wooden Montessori toys rather than seasonal novelties, so they keep being played with long after the decorations are back in the loft.
